The Hanson Lecture & Awards Evening

JOIN US FOR OUR ANNUAL HANSON LECTURE & LOG COMPETITION AWARDS EVENING, 19.00-22.00, 27TH MARCH, CA HOUSE

This year's Hanson Lecture will be given by Geoff Hunt, Past President of the Royal Society of Marine Artists.

Geoff is one of the world’s finest painters of 18th and 19th century ships and through his research for paintings has become a leading authority on naval history and ship architecture of the period. Nelson's navy, his particular interest, will be the subject of his beautifully illustrated Hanson talk.

Geoff Hunt’s pictures, perfectly accurate in period and detail, but very far from merely representational, are often suffused with a light reminiscent of Canaletto.” So said Patrick O’Brian, whose book covers Geoff has illustrated since 1988.

Perhaps less well known, Geoff is also a cruising yachtsman whose last lecture at the CA covered his trip via the French canals to Elba and back in 1979-80.
