Workshop - Using the Iridium GO in practice

A series of one to one (or one to two) workshops to be held from 28 to 31 August, and during * early September 2017 to enable members and non-members who want to find out more about the practicalities of using the Iridium GO whilst at sea to obtain weather information and provide communications in a ‘hands on’ situation.

The Workshops

The plan is for participants to book appointments for a workshop period in advance. * The available days in each month will be posted on the CA Events page. There may be a need for some flexibility in the arrangement to accommodate Brian’s commitments but each agreed workshop date and time will be honoured.

Each workshop of max 1 hour duration will take you through the process of making telephone calls and downloading weather information and sending/receiving e mails and attachments.

Workshops will be held at Brian and Sandy’s home in Wanstead, London. Times and dates to suit can be booked by emailing bluewatersec@gmail.com.

The cost: The CA have agreed to our organising this BlueWater event as a fund raiser for St Bart’s Hospital Charity. Brian and Sandy are providing the GO and Iridium time and will be seeking donations to the Charity for their time spent running the workshops and the cost of the Iridium minutes used.

This event will be hosted by Brian Duker joint secretary of the CA BlueWater section supported by Sandy. Sandy and Brian have sailed over 100,000 miles together. Their yacht Moonshadow Star a Farr 56 Pilot House is currently ashore in Whangarei, New Zealand awaiting their return.
