The SW Section has secured a day charter of Brixham Trawler Leader which was built in 1892 and is 105 feet LOA. Departing from Brixham at 9am she’ll spend a day at sea returning to Brixham around 4pm. You’ll be able to join in and help sail or simply sit back and enjoy the ride. Lunch on board is included.
Brixham trawlers were first built in the 19th Century and were known for their high speed which meant their design was copied by boat builders around Britain. These heavy displacement wooden craft had long straight keels, were 60 to 80 feet on the deck and were gaff rigged. They were powerful sailing craft able to tow large trawls and then make good speed to the fish markets and now you have a chance to spend a day on board sailing one of these traditional historic craft.
The charter is limited to 12 people.
