Welcome to the East Midlands Section
Do you enjoy boating and live or work in the East Midlands? Then welcome to the East Midlands section. Our members keep their boats on the East coast, South coast, in the Mediterranean, Baltic and even further afield. We aim to have two all day meetings between October and March, held in different parts of the region and also encourage smaller, local, social gatherings for members living close to each other.
The East Midlands Area
The East Midlands Section covers the counties of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, parts of Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire and Warwickshire. If you live in the area, why not join us!
Where We Meet
Because we cover a large geographical area, we organise our meetings at different venues across the area. Kirby Muxloe, just off the M1 near Leicester, and Sharnford easily accessed from the A5 or M69 are in the West of the region and Houghton, just off the A14 between Huntingdon and Cambridge in the east are some of the venues we have met at and we are always reviewing our meeting places in order to enable as many members as possible to attend. We also have links to two local cruising clubs, New Parks Cruising Association in Leicester and Camsail in Cambridge, where our members are welcome at a series of monthly evening meetings.
Because the area is so spread out, we have found it more productive for the Section to organise one or two weekend all-day meetings each season spread across the area, rather than a series of evening meetings. These meetings typically feature a principal speaker in the morning, a leisurely lunch, followed by shorter talks by members on their cruises or specialist interests.
Being part of our Section
We aim to organise socials, informative meetings and events. Our meetings often include member talks and presentations about their cruising areas. We also arrange discounted training days and courses with a local RYA training centre. As part of the CA, you will have access to the wider boating community, a range of cruising information, reports, guides and a wealth of knowledge.
