Child of the Sea, by Doina Cornell

Doina Cornell will give a presentation based on her book Child of the Sea (published by Adlard Coles in July 2012) describing seven years spent sailing around the world with her family Jimmy, Gwenda and Ivan Cornell.

Colourfully illustrated by photos, films and music, she will paint an intimate portrait of family life onboard a small yacht in the late 1970s, a bygone era of low-tech cruising. On the tightest of budgets, as her father Jimmy struggled to carve out a career as a journalist, the family led an unbelievably rich life of experiences, travelling far off the beaten track to Pacific islands few yachts visit even now.
