Bump and grind in the Isles-sous-le-vent, by Jon Boon

Jon Boon, inveterate charterer and London CA member, wanted to sail somewhere as far away and as remote as reasonably possible on a relatively short trip.

Accordingly, with fellow crew, he flew to French Polynesia in May 2011 and cruised the waters of Raiatea, Tahaa, Huahine and to the legendary island of Bora Bora. Illustrated with photos and video footage, his talk gives an insight into getting there, the costs of provisioning and the navigation of the area. Woven into the lecture, and sourced from the CA library, are references to those who travelled to these beautiful islands from earlier times: the crew of HMS Dolphin, Captain Cook, Robert Louis Stephenson and the stalwart members of the British Missionary Society.
