We are ready to go and counting down to our Autumn Lecture Series at CA House and across the CA Sections.
The Covid-19 pandemic accelerated our use of technology and embracing Zoom for a wide-ranging lecture programme over Autumn 2020/Winter 2021. We are delighted to kick off again and the months ahead will offer a fascinating mix of eye-opening and informative lectures to get you through winter hosted by our Sections around the UK.
We are planning a hybrid approach, with all lectures hosted by CA London and Suffolk Section available in person and live via Zoom, South-West Section in person only and the Kent Section events are currently only via Zoom, with other Sections to be confirmed. When registering to join the lectures, you can select in person or Zoom, with the webinar enabling two-way engagement for those joining virtually.

Jeremy Batch preparing for the practice hybrid lecture
In preparation for the upcoming lectures, on Thursday 30 October 2021, CA House in London held a tech-check lecture to run through the technology with an in-person and virtual audience. Hosted by Alison Hadley, Chair of Council and Chair of London Section, Jeremy Batch presented an interesting and enlightening talk entitled 'Making Space for Sailing: Another Orbit'.
"It will be good to see friends again and enjoy a social get together," commented Alison Hadley, "but we know members further afield - even as far away as South Africa - have appreciated being able to tune in over the past year and that’s something we want to continue to offer."
Many members will already be familiar with our lecture series and know there really is something for everyone, whatever your interests and experience, giving you the chance to gain knowledge, discover new cruising grounds, hear unique personal stories and learn from expert masterclasses.
The lectures are available free or at a small fee and non-members can join some lectures too (check individual events). If you haven’t tuned in before, take a look at the programme, book your tickets and save the date. Members can also buy a £24 season ticket for the nine in-person lectures at CA House (from October to December 2021) or they are free to join via Zoom. Meals and refreshments are on offer at all venues hosting in-person lectures, so it is a great opportunity to enjoy a convivial get-together.
