About CA Sections

Our voluntary Section Secretaries run and lead the CA Sections for groups of CA members. The CA has two types of Sections, 'Cruising Sections’ cover sea areas, whilst ‘Local Sections’ are UK-based.

Cruising Sections cover popular areas like the English Channel, the Mediterranean or European inland waterways. Local Sections service most of the UK, both in and out of the sailing season. There’s also an Antipodean Section for members living in Australia and New Zealand who sail in Europe during northern hemisphere summers and arrange get-togethers Down Under in their summer.

  • Cruising Sections: Baltic, Biscay, Blue Water, Celtic, Channel, European Inland Waterways, Mediterranean, North Sea
  • Local Sections: Antipodean, CA London, Essex, Kent, Solent, South West, Suffolk, Thames Valley, Wessex

Sections run events like rallies, social get-togethers, seminars and lectures throughout the year as well as sharing local cruising information, including to our forums, Cruising Guides and the CA Almanac. Joining Sections is a great way to meet and make friends with people who live or sail near you, and to pick lots of local knowledge.

Many CA Sections use dedicated online forums to exchange information, which CA members can access whether you’re a Section member or not. You can also set up automatic forwarding of posts from any forum and the ‘cruising mode’ helps you control receipt of emails when airtime might be expensive or bandwidths restricted.
