The Cruising Association Challenge Awards are presented in recognition of outstanding contribution to the work of the association during 2021.

Cruising Association hosts Brexit Webinar

The Cruising Association hosted a Brexit Webinar for members on Saturday 22 January 2022, which is now published for public viewing amongst the wider cruising community.

The Brexit Webinar was a follow-up to the first CA webinar held in December 2020, and addressed the key issues which continue to impact sail and motor cruisers as a consequence of the UK leaving the EU.

New and updated editions of Inland Waterways Cruising Guides published

New and updated full colour print and digital editions of the Cruising Association's (CA) five main inland waterways cruising guides - Cruising the Inland Waterways of France and Belgium, Through the Netherlands via the Standing Mast Routes, 50 Great Cruising Routes in the Netherlands, The River Moselle/Mosel and The German Rhine - have been published by the CA's European Inland Waterways Section (EIWS).

CAptain's Mate of the Month - Discovering Turkey

With the launch of our upgraded CAptain’s Mate app on 1 December 2021, there are plenty of locations to discover around the world. From peaceful anchorages to marinas, estuary moorings to ports, CAptain’s Mate features over 6,500+ locations in 70+ countries along with 20,000+ member contributions.

RATS Webinar - Tune in for the latest Brexit updates

The CA’s Regulations and Technical Services group (RATS) continues to be at the forefront of lobbying on behalf of the cruising community to mitigate the impact of the UK leaving the EU.

For over three years, RATS has worked hard to identify, campaign and propose solutions to national and international government and legislative bodies on issues affecting cruisers due to Brexit.

CAptain’s Mate Insight session – Book Yours Now

Following the successful launch of our upgraded CAptain’s Mate app on 1 December 2021, the Cruising Association is offering CAptain’s Mate Insight sessions to the cruising community.

Open to members and non-members, the CAptain’s Mate Insight session will give you the opportunity for a one-to-one online tour of the app’s functionality and ask any questions.

CA update on UK Government VAT rules for UK boat owners

Following a meeting with HM Treasury (HMT) and HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), the Cruising Association (CA) is pleased to confirm that the UK Government will make a positive change to the application of Returned Goods Relief (RGR) for recreational craft. As a result, many boat owners will no longer have to pay VAT on the return of their boats to the UK.

The proposed change has considerable benefits for the UK based cruising community:
