This seminar will include presentations on accessing and interpreting weather information as well as those from members who have already made the crossing. The cost of the day will include refreshments and a two-course hot-buffet lunch.
Beginning in Biscay, Saturday November 26th2016 at CA House, Limehouse, London
An introduction to cruising in Atlantic France, northern Spain and Portugal.
The Bay of Biscay is renowned for winter storms but what does it offer the cruising boater during the summer? Why do so many choose to linger? Are there any sheltered anchorages?
This seminar is for those who have yet to venture in Biscay Section waters, or who are intending to cruise southwards from Northern Spain towards Gibraltar.
Sat, 25/06/2016 - 00:00 to Sun, 26/06/2016 - 00:00
Midsummer Rallies Western France June 25th & 26th 2016
We are repeating the informal get-togethers that we have held for the past two years. Wherever we are on 25th and 26th June, boats may welcome other CA members to join them. The form of the rally/meet will be in the hands of members who have volunteered to act as hosts.
Mon, 20/06/2016 - 00:00 to Fri, 01/07/2016 - 00:00
The Rally will begin in Ribadesella on June 20th and our final port of call will be Gihon, ending there on July 1st, perhaps spending time in Lastres, thus providing easy cruising between ports. The Rally has been timed to avoid the crowds that this coast attracts in high season, but when the weather should be kind to us. The scenery in this part of Spain is stunning, and the Northern coast has a very different culture to that of the Mediterranean. There is a great deal to see and do.
This all-day seminar, on the final day of the London Boat Show, is open to all CA members and their guests. The programme will feature a range of presentations of interest to boaters sailing or intending to sail in Biscay Section waters. The speakers will include:
Beginning in Biscay, 14th of November, CA House (full but waiting list in place)
Biscay is often associated with storms, challenging conditions and passages, but during the summer months, the Biscay coast offers a delightful cruising ground, islands, sheltered rivers, historic towns and much more.
Sat, 20/06/2015 - 00:00 to Sun, 21/06/2015 - 00:00
MId-summer falls on a weekend in June, and the rallies will take the form of informal get-togethers at ports or anchorages to be advised, depending on where the host boats will be. To date, there are two host boats, MIthral Aegis and Wizard of Paget, but more volunteers to host would be very welcome. Further details will follow via MyCA, BiscayNet and Section emails. Come and join us.
Some members have expressed the wish to attend both the North France and Channel Islands day on 17th, and Biscay Day on the 18th. In order to make this more affordable for those wishing to attend both, we've decided to set the price at £50 for members, and £75 for non- members if attending both days. Please let your Section Secretary know if you want to change your booking - or when making a new booking.
