East Midlands Section - February lunch meeting

THIS MEETING HAS BEEN CANCELLED - there were too few members booked to make it viable.

Now that you've digested the turkey, and, hopefully, escaped or recovered from the winter flu, may I remind you of our planned meeting for February.

It is scheduled for mid-morning to mid-afternoon on 15 February in Houghton, a village between Cambridge and Huntingdon. As last year, we have booked the:

Houghton & Wyton Memorial Hall

1a St Ives Road, Houghton, PE28 2BJ

Our main speaker, before lunch is David Gibson, of the Thames Sailing Barge Trust. I attended a talk by him earlier this year, starting with little interest in the subject, but found his entertaining talk, covering the history, technology and present activities of their barges totally fascinating. I'm sure you will too.

I propose we have a communal buffet lunch, where each person (or couple) brings a dish and drink, and we share. Nearer the time I'll circulate a list of suggested dishes to those who've signed up, and keep it updated as people volunteer what they'll bring, so that we avoid duplication.

As last time, after lunch we need 3 or so members to give an illustrated slide talk about a recent cruise, or any other cruising related topic that grips them. Volunteers please!
