This month we find ourselves in the small harbour town of Skjaerhalden on the island of Kirkeøy, the last stop in Norway before you venture south.
The harbour offers lots of marina space, with mooring recommended on the inside of the breakwater to avoid the ferry wash. Shoreside facilities include fuel, pump-out, showers, launderette and supermarket, with wifi available at your berth.
CA member Rupert Fowke’s report on CAptain’s Mate shares insights from his visit to Skjaerhalden during the first week of August:
"Traffic light system indicates whether berth is free. Once you have paid for your berth on the app the light goes red.
>12 Metres on outside of breakwater next to ferries. Pump out is also situated here.
Visitor berths are also available to the south of the ferry terminal on the breakwater opposite the Lifeboat station.
400 NOK for 11metres plus 200 NOK deposit for electricity which is refunded every 24 hours minus the electricity used. Showers 40 NOK."
