CAptain’s Mate of the Month – Seville, Spain

CAptain’s Mate of the Month for February features the report of CA member Andy Travell on Club Nautico de Sevilla, a marina located at the heart of the stunning city of Seville, Spain.

Getting to Seville, the capital of Spain’s Andalusia region, involves motoring fifty-five miles along the River Guadalquivir from the Gulf of Cadiz in the south-west of the Iberian Peninsula, but the effort is worth the destination with plenty to explore.

Once moored at the Club Nautico de Sevilla there are excellent shore facilities, including showers, power, water, and laundry, although no fuel or pump out. The club offers 24hr security and berth holders are issued a key for gate access, so you can be sure your boat is safe.

Visitors to Club Nautico de Sevilla will need to make an advance booking with the club, who will liaise with the lockmaster to book your transit through the large sea to river lock and co-ordinate the bridge opening.

Andy shares his experience from visiting in September 2022, saying, "Club Nautico de Sevilla is a well maintained sports club with terrace bar and restaurant, 3 swimming pools and numerous indoor/outdoor sports courts.

Suitable for catamarans, berthing costs September 2022 - 12m catamaran - €39 per night including electric, water & taxes. Aldi supermarket 10mins walk.

Seville is a spectacular city, well worth a visit. Motoring the fast flowing River Guadalquivir, 55 miles, is not difficult, well buoyed, watch out for large cargo ships and tankers, also for tree branches and debris in the river. Timings are important as the lock entering the canal Alfonso XIII and the lifting bridge Puente de las Delicias have restricted operating times."
