Motorboat
Welcome to the Motorboat Section
The CA’s Motorboat Section aims to bring together motorboaters wherever they are and whatever type of motorboating they enjoy. We aim to provide a vibrant platform to share information, updates and resources tailored specifically for motorboating enthusiasts.
The CA has always supported both sail and motor cruisers, but the creation of a dedicated Motorboat Section enables us to better serve our expanding community of motorboaters. We also recognise that many sailors transition to motorboating, and the CA is committed to supporting this shift with enhanced services and tailored resources.
We will host Zoom talks and forums, along with organising trips in company for new and experienced motorboaters, for confidence building, expand horizons and also to enjoy the social side of motorboating.
What’s available
All of the information and forums available to members on the CA website, is also be available to Motorboat Section members.
This includes information such as advice from the Regulatory & Technical Service group (RATS), information on visas and entry into France, online forums and classified adverts. You can also use CAptain’s Mate, the CA’s invaluable cruising asset featuring information on over 7,500 locations in more than 100 countries around the world. If you are looking for an additional crew member, you can use the CA Crewing Service.
Motorboat Section members can also join other CA Sections, to broaden your community and experiences. We always recommend you join your Local Section.
Specific offerings for motorboat enthusiasts will include cruises in company, Zoom talks and forums.
Cruising in Company
Cruising in Company gives boat owners the experience of a long passage such as crossing the Channel or going to the Netherlands whilst enjoying the security and safety of completing the passage with experienced skippers. On arrival, you can also meet other motorboat owners and learn from them.
We will organise boats based on cruising speed, ensuring a comfortable experience for all. Boats with a cruising speed of less than 19 kts will be in one group and faster boats in another.
Organisers will handle berthing and provide entry requirements advice, making the process stress free. This initiative is perfect for both seasoned and new motorboaters looking to connect and learn from each other. For everyone, our cruising in company will give the chance to meet old friends and make new ones.
Zoom talks
Details of talks will be updated when confirmed and will appear in the Forthcoming Events below.
Forums
The CA’s online forums, including the Motorboat forum, are a great way for members to share information. All posts and replies are made using real names, not pseudonyms, and are visible only to members. Ask a question and answers from fellow members with first-hand experience will flood in.
