Hanson Lecture, Commander Michael Sturm

CDR Sturm, United States Naval Attache to the United Kingdom, will discuss naval intelligence in the 1800s during the age of tall ships and Admiral Horatio Nelson, comparing collection methods at that time with those of today. CDR Sturm is an active-duty officer with over 20 years of service. His career has ranged from the strategic level at the Pentagon, operational level in Bahrain, and tactical level deployed aboard an aircraft carrier and while in Afghanistan with special operations teams. He has also taught courses at the US Naval Academy.

Katy Stickland, Editor of Practical Boat Owner Magazine, judged the 2023 Log Competition and will join us on the evening to present the Log Competition Awards and trophies.

Please note: lectures can be watched live online but we do not generally make recordings available after the event, for a number of reasons relating to time and copyright issues.
