Sitting between the very popular Greek and Croatian cruising areas and the rising star of Montenegro, Albania has a way to go before it can offer the delights of typical Mediterranean cruising. But that doesn’t mean that it isn’t a fascinating country to visit. Its history includes nearly 50 years of brutal communist dictatorship which only fell in 1992. This inevitably informs the experience of the visitor, though the country is developing fast, maybe too fast? Cath will describe the experience of arriving in Albania from Corfu, spending several weeks there in Minx, their X-Yacht 40, leaving her in the country’s only marina for six months over the winter of 2024, then sailing from south to north in May 2025, before checking out to Montenegro.
