The Perilous Voyages of the Elsi Arrub, Andrew Halcrow

Like all young Shetland lads and lassies Andrew felt a close affinity for the sea. Inevitably boat ownership followed but Andrew’s visions where well over the horizon and a more suitable boat for ocean cruising was required. Resources being limited, he built one - of steel. That began a long association with the Elsie Arrub in which he and his brother made a circumnavigation. That not being enough some years later the boat was fitted out for a single handed circumnavigation. A medical emergency ended that attempt and remarkably Elsi was recovered. A few years later he set off again “westabout” That end was even more dramatic. Join Andrew for a full account from his home in Shetland.
