After 19 years, Ania Muchla is stepping down as the CA’s Catering Manager. Ania joined the CA team as a catering assistant in 2006, shortly after moving to London from Poland, and has been a valued employee ever since.
Over the years, Ania’s role evolved significantly, leading to her promotion to Catering Manager in 2016, a position she has held for the past nine years.
During her tenure, Ania successfully steered the Galley restaurant & bar through periods of major change. Following COVID lockdowns and introduction of a public licence, demand increased substantially. Ania responded by expanding the team, refining service delivery, and maintaining a high-quality, welcoming experience for both members and the public. This period of growth culminated in the Galley refurbishment completed a couple of years ago, delivering significant improvements to the facilities.
Under Ania’s leadership, the Galley became known not only for its food and service, but also for its atmosphere. Ania fostered a strong team spirit and a relaxed, friendly environment that made members, visitors, and staff feel genuinely welcome. Her familiar presence behind the bar became a familiar part of the CA House experience, helping establish it as a social hub, with groups such as local football teams making the Galley their regular post-match meeting place.
Ania’s long-standing relationships with Section Secretaries and event organisers were invaluable. Her understanding of how different Sections like their events to run, combined with her can-do attitude - Ania has been famously reluctant to say no to a request! - ensured consistently high standards, and always delivered with a smile.
Ania is now embarking on a new chapter, undertaking a part-time course to train as a property surveyor. Importantly for the CA, she will continue to produce her much-loved meals at CA House, working on a part-time basis alongside her studies.
The CA paid tribute to Ania’s dedication and valued contributions as Catering Manager with a presentation at the Flag Officers’ Lunch on Saturday 17 January 2026.
Lucy Gray, Chief Operating Officer, shares, "Ania’s friendly face, warm welcome, and incredible team spirit have helped create a relaxed, inviting atmosphere that our regulars and staff alike have come to love. We’ll miss seeing her in the manager’s chair, but we’re thrilled that Ania will continue to be part of the team, bringing her personal touch and positivity every day. We all wish Ania success with her studies."
The CA is delighted to announce the appointment of Peter Friscuolo as Catering Manager. Peter joined the CA on 5 January 2026 and brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise to the team.
