Whether you’re contemplating your first purchase or considering a change, our expert-led sessions will help you make confident decisions.

Topics include:

  • Tax and paperwork essentials
  • Matching your boat to your cruising ambitions
  • Managing without a generator
  • Practical tips for cooking and food storage afloat
Getting Underway

Gain practical know-how to cruise with confidence. Breakout sessions will cover:

  • Effective trip planning
  • Anchoring techniques
  • Making the most of the Windy weather planning tool
  • Essential safety equipment and legal requirements
Destinations – and How to Reach Them

Dreaming of your next passage? Join discussions on some superb cruising grounds, including:

  • Crossing the Channel to the Somme
  • The non-tidal Thames
  • North Sea crossings to Belgium and the Netherlands
  • Exploring the South West of the UK

The day isn’t just about learning — it’s about connecting. After the formal programme, join fellow boaters for drinks followed by dinner, offering the perfect opportunity to continue conversations in a relaxed and sociable setting.

Whether you’re a seasoned cruiser or just starting your motorboating journey, this promises to be a valuable and enjoyable event. We look forward to welcoming a strong gathering of boaters for what we hope will become a much-anticipated annual fixture.

Practical details

This interactive seminar held at CA House in London is designed to bring people together. Knowledge sharing, exchanging experiences and building connections are at the heart of the day. Short introductory talks will be followed by interactive break-out sessions, allowing participants to actively engage in the topics that matter most to them. Prior to the event, attendees will be invited to indicate their preferred session topics.

The final programme will be tailored accordingly, based on interests and the number of participants.

The seminar is ideal for anyone considering starting motorboat cruising and wanting to understand all the aspects involved. More experienced motorboat cruisers will benefit from exchanging practical knowledge, learning from others’ experiences, and meeting like-minded people with similar cruising ambitions and destinations in mind.

In addition, there will be a dedicated brainstorming session to discuss how the Motorboat Section should develop in the future — your ideas and opinions are very much welcome.

Participation is open to both CA members and non-members. The seminar is in person only. Plenary sessions will be recorded and made available after the event to CA members.
