The song "Rule Brittania" says, "Britons Never Shall Be Slaves" but they were once. From 1600 pirates preyed on the British coast and merchant ships, capturing people for sale in North African slave markets. In this talk Rob Smith will tell the story of how British sailors fought to rescue the slaves and make the sea safe from the Barbary Pirates of North Africa over the following 200 years.
