The West Coasts of the British Isles offer some of the richest and most variable cruising in Europe, if not the World. From the Wild Atlantic Coast of Scotland to the comparatively sheltered waters of the West Coat of Scotland the area includes the vast majority of the islands of the British Isles with ~170 islands off the West Coast of Scotland which meet Hamish Haswell Smith's definition of a land area >40 hectares, surrounded by seawater and not linked to land 80 or so off the coast or Ireland, 50 or so off the coats of Wales plus the isles of Scilly.
The northern Irish Sea Borders all four countries of the British Isles.
