Edging our way East from Tunisia towards Greece, Anne Varvill

Details

After two winters in Tunisia, Annie Varvill and Chris Boutwood set off for Sicily aboard Barents of Birdham, beginning what became a memorable voyage.

An account of a sailing adventure combining beautiful islands, good food, prehistoric history, unexpected encounters and a succession of boat problems - from seasickness and mistrals to submerged rocks, mystery water and a sacrificed propeller anode. Despite the mishaps, it’s clear the crew had an unforgettable and thoroughly entertaining trip.

Annie and Chris were both brought up in and around Chichester Harbour, where they now live. They still have the Westerly Windrush that Annie's father bought new in 1967, which they keep in Birdham and Chris maintains her. Their small grandchildren have recently spent the night aboard her at East Head, making them the 4th generation to grow up on her. They now also have a Dufour 412GL in the Med Barents of Birdham, and are slowly making their way eastwards from Toulon, where they obtained her, to the eastern Med.
