The Western Approaches offer a wealth of hidden gems for both cruising and exploring places full of fascinating history ashore.

Our seminar will include a range of talks on cruising, electronics, getting afloat without owning a boat plus the opportunity to join a guided walk along Exmouth’s historic waterside.

10:00 Coffee and welcome

A Hidden Gem!

Well we would say that wouldn’t we!! A Cruisers introduction to the River Exe. Pilotage, Mooring, places of interest.

No Boat No Problem

A look at one sailors introduction to Cruising, and a chance to consider how, as established cruisers, we can help introduce new sailors to the cruising world.

Modern Marine Power and electronics systems

A look with a leading Marine Electronics engineer at the developing trends in power systems and electronics packages.

Lunch

A bit of an Explore!

A guided walk along part of Exmouth’s historic waterside. Bring your waterproofs and wellies/walking shoes.

Looking Ahead Together

A chance to share our cruising knowledge and plans for the coming season, access the ‘hive’ mind and explore possibilities for meet ups along the coast. So bring your plans, aspiration questions and knowledge.

1600 Wind up and a look at future events for the South West Section

Exe Sailing Club is situated on the beach at the mouth of the Estuary and will be a comfortable and welcoming venue. Parking is limited at the club but there is plentiful public parking within a short walk. Exmouth is only 15 minutes from the M5 Exeter junction and the town is well served by train service from Exeter St Davids Station. If you fancy making a weekend of it, there is a wide range of accommodation in the town.
