Fresh look for the 2025 Log Competition - could this be your year?

For over a century, the CA Log Competition has celebrated the art of recording cruising adventures. Now, we are bringing this cherished tradition firmly into the present with a refreshed competition designed to welcome more stories, styles and sailors than ever before.

The new categories are designed to better engage, be more accessible and reflect the diverse ways CA members tell their cruising stories today. Whether you prefer words, photos, blogs, vlogs or social posts, there is now a category designed for you, making it easier than ever to share your adventures of life afloat.

What’s changing in 2025?

We have redefined the Hanson Cup, which will no longer be a direct entry. This prestigious prize will be awarded by the judge for the best overall log from the entries across all the other categories.

We are celebrating both epic trips and shorter getaways, with awards for cruises over 30 days and those of 30 days or less. Recognising the special moments sailing with family and friends across the ages, our new Generations at Sea category celebrates voyages where at least one crew member is under 16 years of age. The Dugon Cup has been rededicated to the joy of simple, low-key cruising in boats up to 34ft.

Exclusively for those members who have never entered the Log Competition before, we have created the New Horizons Trophy. This is your perfect opportunity to share your story and win.

Except for photo- and video-specific awards, all categories welcome any digital format. If you are submitting your entry via a blog or social media account, you will be asked to provide a sample of posts for the judge.
