Small Pleasure Craft Report system (sPCR): new registration and login procedures

A new system for registering and logging into the Small Pleasure Craft Report system (sPCR) is now in force. In order to access the service users are required to login via the GOV.UK One Login system, a relatively new UK Government service that is used to verify individuals’ identification. Around 50 public services are linked to GOV.UK One and this has now been extended to the sPCR. Without an 'account' with this service you will not be able to access or use the sPCR in the future to report either your passage from or passage to the UK.

You are advised to register prior to any need to use the sPCR itself, in case you experience any difficulties. You should use the same email address to create your GOV.UK One Login that you have previously used for the sPCR service. This will then enable you to have access to your existing account.

The new service uses two factor authentication (2FA), so your access becomes more secure. 2FA means having to use an authenticator app on your mobile or entering a code sent by SMS. The former is more secure. You should ensure your mobile phone has a screen lock PIN, password etc. as in future you will use this login to access other Government services such as your tax records

In order to start the registration process you initially go to the sPCR page and follow the instructions there:

Note that whilst you can only have one email address linked to any one GOV.UK One account you can set up multiple accounts if, for example, you need one login for business purposes and another for personal use.

UK and non-UK nationals will need to prove their identity with GOV.UK One Login to use some services. When you do this, your identity information is automatically saved to your GOV.UK One Login. This means you will not need to prove your identity again next time a service needs to check who you are. Full information on how to do this can be found on the gov.uk website.

Thanks to CA member Michael Lithgow for alerting RATS to this change.
