The Cruising Association (CA) is launching its newest local UK Section, the Midlands Section, based at the renowned Rutland Sailing Club (RSC).
This strategic expansion aims to serve the CA’s growing membership who live in the heart of England, providing a dedicated hub for cruising enthusiasts, training opportunities and social events.
To celebrate the launch of the new CA Midlands Section and introduce members to its main base at RSC, the Section is hosting an Open Day on Sunday 12 October at RSC. Running from 1030-1500 hours, the event offers an opportunity to learn more about the Midlands Section, meet fellow sailors and explore what’s on offer at the club.
"We are excited to establish a dedicated CA presence in the Midlands. This is very much a member-led initiative, and we are keen to build a programme that directly responds to what our members want," said Ian Hill, Secretary of the CA Midlands Section. "This Open Day is a great chance for sailors across the region to connect."

The Open Day will provide the opportunity to:
- Meet CA members and members of RSC’s own 100-strong cruiser fleet.
- Tour the club’s extensive facilities.
- Discuss ideas for Section activities, such as rallies, training and social events.
- Learn about the RYA courses at RSC, including sail, powerboat, first aid and VHF radio.
