Our summer seminar will include four talks of interest to blue water cruisers.
It will also offer the chance to meet other cruisers, ask questions, benefit from the experience of others as well as enjoying a sociable day.
All day tea & coffee and a buffet lunch are inclued in the cost for those attending in person.

An Atlantic Crossing by Hilary Logan
The session will cover some of the options and things to consider when making the passage across the Atlantic from Portugal /Canaries towards the Caribbean. Topics to include preparing the boat and crew, routing, where to make landfall, insurance and crew, communications at sea, what to expect enroute and when you get there. This will be based on the experiences of Hilary from two Atlantic circuits completed in 2020 and 2023 with her husband Jim Logan on Altarama, a Discovery 55.
Passage or extended cruising preparation with regard to Standing and Running rigging by David Mossman (Technical Marine Supplies)
David’s 40-year involvement with racing boats has given him an understanding of what is needed to stop the problems before they happen. Professionally, he spent nine years at Marlow Ropes, working closely with Golden Globe Race sailors to prepare their campaigns.In his current position at Technical Marine Supplies, the experience in running rigging has expanded to include standing rigging. This has allowed him to strengthen his understanding of complete rig systems and to enhance the technical support he provides to customers.
It’s Time To Cross the Pacific by Mike & Anne Hartshorn
The talk is about their leg crossing the Pacific from Mexico to New Zealand. We said to ourselves it was time to get on with sailing. They left on a ten year circumnavigation and it’s taken eighteen years to sail half way.

A short talk about helping to support and expand the UK Beach Clean run by Beachwatch to a world-wide cleanup especially to help celebrate Daviid Attenborough’s centenary year and his Blue Planet ll programme which brought the Plastic in the Oceans problem to everybody’s attention.
