Celebrating the Volunteers behind the Cruising Association

This UK Volunteers' Week, 1-7 June 2026, the Cruising Association is proud to recognise and thank the hundreds of volunteers whose time, expertise and enthusiasm keep the CA thriving both on and off the water.

From organising rallies, talks and social events, to maintaining technical resources, leading Sections and helping members plan safe and enjoyable cruising adventures around the world, volunteers are at the heart of the CA community.

Across the UK and internationally, CA volunteers contribute thousands of hours every year supporting members, sharing knowledge and helping foster the welcoming spirit that makes the Association unique. Whether hosting local gatherings, moderating forums, producing publications, supporting communications, contributing cruising reports or offering practical advice to fellow sailors and motorboaters, the dedication of our volunteers helps strengthen one of the world’s most respected cruising communities.

The CA’s growing programme of member activities is only possible because of the commitment and generosity of volunteers willing to share their experience and passion for cruising.

Robin Baron, President of the Cruising Association, said, “Thank you to all our incredible volunteers. You are the backbone of the Cruising Association and make a difference every single day. Your time, knowledge and energy have an incredible impact on the cruising community and help to inspire and support future generations of cruising sailors.

“Volunteers’ Week is an opportunity to celebrate and thank every volunteer whose contribution helps make the CA such a valuable and vibrant community. Volunteers enrich the CA and enable us to support cruisers around the world. We are deeply grateful for your tireless efforts - the CA could not do what we do without you.”

The CA’s volunteers represent a broad range of backgrounds, cruising experience and interests, from ocean sailors and coastal cruisers to inland waterways enthusiasts and motorboaters. Together, they help ensure members can connect, learn and cruise with confidence.

As the CA continues to grow and evolve, volunteers remain central to its success - bringing new ideas, fresh perspectives and an enduring spirit of collaboration.

During Volunteers’ Week, the Cruising Association encourages members to take a moment to thank the volunteers who support their local Sections, events, forums and activities throughout the year.

To all CA volunteers: Thank You!
