To and From the Mediterranean via the Inland Waterways of France, Julian Dussek

In the halcyon days of 2006 Julian and Vanessa Dussek took their Southerly115 through the French inland waterways to the Mediterranean. They describe their travels through the small villages, major cities, Paris, Lyon, massive canals and smaller rivers, the huge locks on the Rhone and the small rural ones. They encountered the wild bulls of the Camargue and enjoyed the wine and cuisine of the regions they passed through. They returned through those waterways a few years later and will describe the challenge that climate change is producing.

Julian started sailing with his family as a boy in the 1950s and enjoyed many holidays with his wife and children on chartered boats before buying a Drascombe Longboat Cruiser in which they sailed extensively in the south east of England. On retirement they bought Pluto, a Southerly 115 in which they now cruise the inland waterways of France and Belgium. Julian, a past President of the Cruising Association is currently the Secretary of the European Inland Waterways Section.
