Beginning In Biscay - Cruising the Atlantic Coast of France

Although the Bay of Biscay has reputation for storms and dangerous seas, the Atlantic Coast of France is one of Europe's best cruising grounds. Fortunately, from Spring to Autumn the weather is much kinder - warmer than the UK but not as hot as the Mediterranean. Why is it, that so many boaters, who visit this cruising ground, decide to stay and make this their cruising base?  What are its main attractions, is it the scenery, the cuisine or the French way of life?
