The Antarctic by Owen Evans

As Second Officer with the British Antarctic Survey, Owen spent time visiting both polar regions when his particular role was as Navigation Officer; this must have presented unusual challenges. He is now better known to us on the East Coast as Deputy Harbour Master in Brightlingsea.

The Talk on Zoom: You will be able to join us from anywhere you can get online, using your PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone, and enjoy the talk and see any illustrations.

The event will start with a few announcements and introductions. Owen Evans will then speak for about an hour, followed by questions and answers. That will be the end of the Talk part of the meeting but if you wish, you could stay with us and join in with the following.

Social:  PICTURE or CHART - "OUR PLANS FOR THE COMING SEASON". After the talk would you be prepared to share a picture and to say a few words within a small group of members? If so, check that your device has a webcam and microphone, please have your picture ready, and stay connected after the talk. Alternatively, this time, you could just watch and listen to the other members.

Registration/Booking, only open to members of the CA including the Crewing Service, and RHYC members, and registration closes one hour before the event starts. Registration is for one device with as many watching as you wish. There is no charge for these Talks on Zoom for the time being.

Details of the Zoom meeting will be emailed to you during the day before the event. If you have not received this email by the evening, please email . A reminder will be sent out in the hour before the talk is due to start.
