Mediterranean adventures, Peter Adam, followed by Lunch.

Saturday January 23rd , 10.30 – 1500 ’ ish our mid winter visit to Malpas, a talk from Peter Adam about his and Penny’s Mediterranean adventures followed by lunch in The Heron Inn with much sharing of cruising news.

Peter and Penny's  illustrated talk about is their cruises in 2014 and 2015, from Rome to the Ionian, with lots of interesting sightseeing visits along the way. In 2014 these included Rome, Naples, the Aeolian Islands, Malta and a circumnavigation of Sicily, the largest island in the Mediterranean, overwintering ashore in western Sicily. In 2015, they completed the cruise, revisiting the Aeolian Islands, then round the Boot of Italy by going around the Instep, visiting some out of the way places along the way.

They crossed to Greece on the day of the Greek referendum (whether to keep going with austerity), having sought advice from friends already sailing in Greece. Once in Greece, they visited the main Ionian islands and on to the Gulf of Corinth, which offers some wonderful secluded anchorages before wintering Pearl ashore at Preveza.
