Sailing the Aegean Sea

Trevor Morey,
Commodore Henley Offshore Group

Trevor served his National Service in the Royal Navy but thought little more of sailing until he reached retirement age. He and Lesley started sailing on Holiday flotillas, then bought a share in a Med based boat, before buying their own. They sailed their Jeanneau 37.1, 'Hippocampus' in the Aegean for 9 years, visiting 61 Greek Islands, but were mostly based in Turkey for the winter months

Trevor will give an account of their 2013 trip from Bodrum, Turkey, North via the Dodecanese Islands to mainland Greece for the winter and the 2014 trip South and West visiting the Monastic Akti Peninsular, many of the Greek Sporades Islands and the Gulf of Volos. From there they also ventured to inland Thessaly, to see The Meteora as well as negotiating the bridge at Khalkis. The season ended with a somewhat primitive haul out for the summer.
