CA welcomes new Honorary Treasurer and Honorary Solicitor

The CA looks forward to working with our new Honorary Treasurer, Nick Clayton and Honorary Solicitor, Jenny Bowes, who have come onboard in these key volunteer appointments.

Nick Clayton, CA Honorary TreasurerHonorary Treasurer

As Honorary Treasurer, Nick Clayton takes over the excellent work of Richard Sherwood who has retired due to ill health.

Nick, who has spent his career as a Chartered Accountant across various commercial and financial management sectors, will bring significant experience to the current and future financial governance of the CA.

Nick has sailed for over fifty years initially in dinghies, progressing to yacht sailing including a leg of the Clipper Round the World Race. He and his wife Amanda are now in their eighth year of ownership of a Contest 48cs. They enjoyed a couple of seasons in the Baltic before crossing the Atlantic, and will soon be flying back to Grenada for their fourth trip to the Caribbean.

Richard SherwoodThank you Richard Sherwood

A stalwart volunteer, Richard Sherwood has retired as the CA Honorary Treasurer after thirteen years outstanding service in the role.

The CA has benefited significantly from Richard’s stewardship, experience and wise counsel, with the CA finances improving out of all recognition. Richard has given generously of his time, working tirelessly for the CA and will be sorely missed by all.

Richard’s contributions were celebrated at the Flag Officers’ Lunch when he was presented with retirement gifts from the CA.

"I am sure I speak for all of Finance Committee, staff, Council, and all members in thanking Richard sincerely for all the work he has done on behalf of the CA and its membership," commented Bob Garrett, Chair of Council.

Jenny Bowes, CA Honorary SolicitorHonorary Solicitor

Jenny Bowes has agreed to serve as the CA Honorary Solicitor, which whilst a role not called on that often is incredibly important. Jenny is a commercial litigation partner at a regional law firm based in Southampton, UK.

Jenny was brought up sailing a 26ft old gaffer around the Solent, the West Country and the Scilly Isles, and offshore to the Channel Islands and the north coast of France. Jenny now sails with her husband and two sons, on their Beneteau Oceanis 232 based in the Hamble.
