Photography Afloat: a CA London masterclass

Photography Afloat: a CA London masterclass with Patrick Roach

Details: Have you ever wished you could take better pictures? New technologies and equipment have made photography much easier and more accessible than it used to be. But understanding your camera better and mastering a few professional techniques could make all the difference.
This one-day class is a great opportunity to learn from an acknowledged master with a special interest in sailing.

The Photographer
Patrick Roach started his photographic career in fashion and advertising, working for Terence Donovan in the 1960s, so learning his trade with one of the best. A keen sailor from his schooldays, Patrick has specialised in taking pictures at sea for more than 30 years, with a six year stint as Yachting World’s photographer before going freelance. Nowadays he has a large photographic library supplying illustrations for navigational books and electronic charting as well as boating magazines.

The Programme
Patrick’s aim is to get everybody more enthusiastic and confident about their photography. The class is in two parts.
The morning session begins at 10.00, with introductions, a look at the range of cameras available and their suitability for their intended use and illustrations of the techniques Patrick uses.
The afternoon is a practical session. Patrick will set a project to photograph three different subjects and will offer advice and suggestions individually. He’ll then talk through the best frames from each delegate and pick an overall winning shot before summing up and final questions. A copy of Patrick’s book Photography at Sea is included in the ticket price
