This is an account of a voyage round Britain completed over two years in the authors' Bavaria 43 sloop with an overwinter stop at Fosdyke near Boston.  There were twenty five ports of call and each leg features an account of the passage with weather conditions and the navigational planning involved.

This website is dedicated to the journeys of sailing yacht Svalen, starting with a  major voyage from Sweden to Brazil and back, departing in May 2018 and returning in summer 2019. To follow the blog, visit the posts page. To donate to any of the good causes being supported en route causes visit the fundraising page.

Elektra is our 1984 Sadler 29 which we (Bruce & Vicki) bought in November 2016, she was in good condition as I didn't want a project but we are updating her ready for when I can retire (a few years yet). Until then just weekends and week long holidays.

Our cruising ground is the south coast of Devon & Cornwall, when time and weather allows also the Isles of Scilly.

We like finding an anchorage away from others, so if do to you will find plenty for our sailing area in my blog.

Shearwater is a 345 Moody, sailed in the mediterranean by David Innes-Wilkin and Sarah Ackroyd. Since leaving our Dartmouth berth in 2015 we have sailed though the French canals, out at Marseilles, down the Cote d'Azur, Corsica, Sardinia, Italy, Sicily Greece Ionians and Sporades.

Details of  past cruising logs with  videos and photos  and future proposed cruises for summer 2022 which you may like to participate in.

This Blog records our adventures on water initially on charter boats and since 2013, on La Ina a very solid HR 352.

This is Nick & Alison on board our Southerly S110 as we spend 6 months sailing from Gosport to Scotland.

Our blog serves as a personal record of our adventures and experiences since leaving the UK in 2012 whilst allowing family and friends to keep up-to-date with our whereabouts. We hope that our blog provides some useful information for other sailors who may be planning a similar adventure to ours.

Our dream to take early retirement and cruise slowly down and into the Med unexpectedly came early... 15 year's early, due to us being made redundant (we both worked for the same company). At the time we could have 'played it safe', got new employment and continued working until retirement however we decided that life is too short and that we should take the risk and see where it takes us... please feel free to follow us on our travels by visiting The adventures of Yacht Flirtie at www.sailblogs.com/member/distantdrummer/
