European Inland Waterways

We are holding a one-day seminar for CA members and non-members interested in cruising the European Inland Waterways. The programme is designed both for experienced users and for those contemplating exploring these fascinating waterways for the first time.

There will be presentations on each of the four popular countries, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. Speakers will describe the pros and cons of visiting each country along with an up-to-date explanation of the situation there. Presentations will be short with plenty of time for discussion.

This year’s Annual Seminar and Lunch will include presentations on Using Technology while Afloat; Cruising Through Germany to Norway; Boating in Europe after Brexit

The annual European Inland Waterways Seminar is a must-do event for those cruising, or planning to cruise, the Inland Waterways of Europe. It will provide a great opportunity to meet friends old and new and to hear a range of talks that will entertain and inform.

Cruising Europe: fast and slow,

European Inland Waterways Section Autumn Meeting

Talks will include Mike Biden on Cruising the River Ring made up of stretches of the Rhine, the Moselle and the Meuse, and so taking in France, Germany and Luxembourg; and an Overview of French Inland Waterway Cruising presented by Julian & Vanessa Dussek.

Begin your Festive Season by joining us at this event!

Please come and join us for Carols at St Anne's Limehouse on Wednesday 17th December.  The evening begins with mulled wine and minced pies at CA House before a wonderful short walk along the star-lit canal path as the bells of St Anne's ring out. Then join in the Candlelight Carol service at St Anne's; one of the most beautiful of Hawksmoor's churches.  After our walk back along the canal path, there is Christmas supper at CA House where you can chat with old friends and make new ones. 

Our Autumn Meeting is on Saturday November 15 (Coffee 1015, Start 1045 - Changed from first version of programme, Formal End 3.30 but conversations can continue as long as desired). We plan to have talks on Belgium, the Netherlands and a voyage from Wales to Holland via the Somme and other places. Our website and the Captain's Mate app will also feature. We will, of course, have one of Agnieszka's lunches and end the programme with our usual "Tables of Expertise" accompanied by  "Bring and Buy" and "CA merchandise" tables.
