For those into hand-held technology, iGrib is a GRIB file viewer for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. It is being developed by a CA member (S/V Mojo) and is low cost at £2.99.
The data are, of course, the same as those from Saildocs, MailASail, zyGrib and Ugrib. At present, iGrib provides data for fixed areas as shown here.
Although not necessary for some, it is planned to offer the ability for users to define their own areas, parameters and resolution. This will allow users to control the download size as with the other systems.
Parameters currently provide as standard and updated 6-hourly are
Surface temperature,
Wind speed and direction,
Precipitation,
Cloud cover,
Pressure.
More will be added to meet user demand.
