Our first meeting this winter and the Pre-Christmas Party will now take place at the Water’s Edge Restaurant at Mercury Yacht Harbour Satchell Lane Hamble SO31 4HQ
For those not familiar with the location the restaurant is at the far end of the marina car park, where there is plenty of space and parking is free.
Friday 9 November 2012 Members’ Short Presentations on their Summer Cruising
It is always interesting and informative to hear what other members have been up to, whether in the UK or further afield, so do join us. Please let us know if you would like to contribute so that we can plan a sensible running order, and please be aware of our 10 minute time limit!
As usual there will be a Club Supper beforehand with the bar available from 18.00hrs, the meal at 19.00hrs and the presentations starting at 20.00hrs.
Friday 7 December 2012 Pre-Christmas Party with a 3-course meal
After the meal Lucy Gilliam will be telling us of her experiences on board the former West Country trading ketch Irene during the Voyage of the New Dawn Traders,sailing across the Atlantic and back last summer, to pick up a cargo of Fair Trade goods for shipment back to Europe. Lucy wrote the onboard blog during the voyage and it made fascinating reading.
Friday 18 January Postponed due to snow to Friday 1st February Child of the Sea Doina Cornell
The daughter of the renowned blue-water yachtsman Jimmy Cornell, will be speaking on her childhood sailing round the world and to exciting places even now little visited. She has recently published a book about this, ‘Child of the Sea’, and copies will be on sale.

Stuart Bradley, the retiring President of the CA, to speak to us on his recent cruises in Croatia under the title ‘The Mediterranean as it used to be’
Friday 15 March Jeremy Batch The History of Navigation 2000 BC - 2020 AD
Jeremy is a most knowledgeable and entertaining speaker and this talk has attracted very favourable comment from other sections.

Saturday 20 April Fitting-Out Supper
Whether you are part way through the task of fitting out, have finished it or not yet started, this is an occasion to relax and enjoy talking to other members about Summer Cruising.

Most evening meetings start with an optional Club Supper at 1900 and the talk at 2000, unless otherwise stated.
