CA Solent Gins Farm Beaulieu River Meet

This is the Section’s last Meet of the summer of 2014 and is to be held at Gins Farm on the lovely Beaulieu River at the much appreciated courtesy of the Royal Southampton Yacht Club.

The Beaulieu River is often regarded as the most attractive scene in the Solent.

On the previous day and evening, namely Friday 19th some boats muster in Newtown Creek. If you plan on coming please let either Alec Macpherson (Gins Farm Meet organiser, or the Section Secretaries Tim and Liz Dodwell know.

On Saturday 20th at Gins Farm, the Meet Organisers, Cate and Alec request the pleasure of your company for a ‘Sharpener’ on the Pontoon beside their boat Yo Ho Ho at 1800.

This will be followed by a three course dinner with coffee in the Clubhouse at 1930 and the cost for this pre-booked enjoyment is £22 per head, payable please note, when you make your booking with the organisers.

The Menu consists of:-

  • Pate of duck livers with beetroot chutney and toasted brioche
  •  Roast breast of corn-fed chicken, fondant potatoes and pesto cream sauce, with seasonal vegetables

  •  Red wine poached pear, Chantilly and caramelised puff pastry

  •  Coffee and mints

  •  A vegetarian option is available if requested in advance

The Yacht Club will be open from 1800 for members' use.

There is some berthing on the club pontoon and more on river pontoon (with no shore access) or on swinging moorings.

If you are allocated a river or buoy mooring, the services of the Club Boatswain and launch will be free of charge up to 18.00, and to return to your yacht after dinner you will need to pre-book this with the organiser but pay him on the night up to £2.50pp for this service.
