Traversing France by Canals and Rivers, by Jules & Vanessa Dussek
In 2006 Julian and Vanessa took their Southerly 115 from Gravelines to the Mediterranean via the French inland waterways and after several 5 years there they returned along a similar route and are now in Calais, overall a round trip of nearly 2,000 miles. Their journey took them through small rivers and canals and the mighty Seine, Saone and Rhone, through small rural locks and the massive ones of the big rivers, through big cities, Paris and Lyon, and the tiny villages of Burgundy and the Loire. Practical tips and advice abound and of course no visit to France would be complete without mention of food and wine.
