Essex Section Supper & Talk: Crossing The Thames Estuary

Time: 19:00 (supper), talk begins 20:00, you can expect to get away by 22:00

Attending: All welcome. CA & BSC members: talk and meal £15, talk only £3. Non members: talk and meal £17, talk only £5

Talk: To start our winter programme Roger Gaspar will provide his unmatched expertise in planning journeys across the complex waters of the Thames Estuary quickly, safely, easily and accurately.

His illustrated talk will cover the options for crossing including:

  • the likely trends of the sands based on the history and our contemporary use,
  • the choices for routes between the Kent, Essex and Suffolk rivers or heading for the Dover Straits,
  • the hazards affecting us – shipping, wind farms and the tides.
  • How to use his book and website to plan the right passage before leaving

 

Supper:

Chicken with chorizo, chick peas and tomatoes

There is plenty of parking space. 

As usual the bar will be available. Please note that the CA now need to subsidise the bar if the takings are not sufficient to cover the cost of opening it so attendees are encouraged to make make full use of the facilities. (Except of course for your designated driver!)
