Cruising Association member wins big in Winter Prize Draw in partnership with Lalizas UK

The Cruising Association is proud to announce the winner of its exclusive to members Winter Prize Draw. Simon Brock has won a £2,000 voucher from Lalizas UK, a leading marine equipment provider, who partnered with the CA for the draw.

Orca Update

The work of the CA’s Regulatory & Technical Services group (RATS) orca project continues, with the ongoing collation of interaction and uneventful passage reports in order to help research possible solutions to the phenomenon of orca interactions along the Iberian Peninsula.

CAptain’s Mate of the Month – Antwerp, Belgium

For March’s CAptain’s Mate of the Month we head to Antwerp, where you will find an excellent choice of marinas and a wide range of mooring and facilities. The Willemdok is an attractive, environment-friendly marina in an inner basin with some 300 berths, with the Linkeroever marina, which is greener and quieter, on the left bank of the Scheldt opposite.

CAptain’s Mate of the Month – Seville, Spain

CAptain’s Mate of the Month for February features the report of CA member Andy Travell on Club Nautico de Sevilla, a marina located at the heart of the stunning city of Seville, Spain.

Getting to Seville, the capital of Spain’s Andalusia region, involves motoring fifty-five miles along the River Guadalquivir from the Gulf of Cadiz in the south-west of the Iberian Peninsula, but the effort is worth the destination with plenty to explore.

Warning - Sailor killed by malfunctioning flare

On 1 January 2023, a Dutch sailor was killed by a malfunctioning flare during a passage in the Pacific Ocean.

The sailor fired the flare just after midnight to celebrate the New Year. Unfortunately, despite being deployed correctly, the flare malfunctioned and, despite the efforts of the crew, the sailor died shortly after the incident.

You are invited to a Cruising Association evening on Orcas, Windfarms and Taxes

At this evening talk, on Wednesday 8 March 2023, the Cruising Association’s Regulatory & Technical Services group (RATS) will cover some of the hot topics on orcas, windfarms and taxes.

The evening is open to members and non-members, either in-person at CA House, London or via Zoom. It will take the form of five short presentations with the focus being on advice cruisers can use in practice, followed by a panel discussion and Q&As from the audience:
