Portsmouth QHM manages not just Portsmouth Harbour but a large sea area in the eastern Solent approximately by bounded Hill Head and Castle Point to the west, and Southsea and Sandown Bay to the east. With the movements of naval vessels, Isle of Wight ferries, cross-Channel ferries, cargo vessels, fishing boats, and the Gosport ferry the harbour can be very busy even before we count pleasure craft visiting numerous different marinas plus other moorings.
In this online seminar five members of the CA Channel Section will give a quick run down on their anchoring equipment and methods; describe some places where each of them have anchored; and some share a 'memorable' anchoring experience.
It will conclude with Q&A session.
We hope this will give everyone some encouragement to anchor more often and to visit some new and interesting places with greater confidence.

Channel Section Rally Meet Up in Plymouth - Cancelled

Our 2020 Meet Up is focussed on viewing the spectacular British Fireworks Championships in this super sea port and interesting city. As well as watching the fireworks over two nights we will have pontoon drinks, a restaurant dinner and pot-luck supper.

Channel Section Rally & Cruise in Company - Cancelled

Last year's Cruise-In-Company attracted some 19 boats and nearly 50 people. For some it was their first Channel crossing while others were regulars who enjoy sailing in good company and visiting new ports.

Starting Sunday 7th July the rally provides a wide range of options for CA Members. You can join and leave the programme wherever you wish, starting in either the Solent or the West Country, then cross the Channel in company, visit France and the Channel Islands, and maybe use it as a step off for your summer cruise. For some last year this was their first channel crossing.
